After a 20-month restoration and a €250,000 investment, the Uffizi library reopened on December 27. The library is also known as the “Magliabechiana” library. It was named after Antonio Magliabechi who was the first librarian to oversee the library. When he passed away, he donated roughly 30,000 books and thanks to this Florence had its first public library. On December 16, 1998 the Uffizi Library was officially established in the Magliabechiano hall.
